The Ford F-250 is a full-size pickup truck designed for handling tasks like towing and carrying heavy loads. This truck comes with many configurations and is one of the top work trucks of the year thanks to its excellent performance and features.

Powertrains

The F-250 comes with three powertrain choices, all of which come standard with rear-wheel drive and optional four-wheel drive. The 6.2-liter gas V-8 engine provides 385 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque and is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission.

The upgraded gas engine is a 7.3-liter V-8 engine producing 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque; it is accompanied by a 10-speed automatic transmission. The final 6.7-liter Powerstroke turbodiesel V-8 engine offers 475 horsepower and an impressive 1,050 lb-ft of torque with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Performance

The long bed, crew cab, four-wheel-drive configurations have a payload of 3,040 pounds while the long bed, regular cab, rear-wheel-drive models have the highest payload of 4,260 pounds.

Models with the base gas engine, crew cab, and four-wheel drive configuration can tow up to 12,500 pounds, even for fifth-wheel or gooseneck towing. Models with the Powerstroke diesel engine, regular cab, and rear-wheel drive can tow up to 15,200 pounds. With fifth-wheel or gooseneck towing, these models can tow up to 22,800 pounds.

Safety

All F-250’s come with excellent active safety features, including:

  • Front automatic emergency braking
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Trailer sway control
  • A camera system with 360-degree viewing
  • Blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage

 

Technology

Basic trims come equipped with a 4.2-inch infotainment and gauge cluster display, while higher-end trims come with a large 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment and gauge cluster display. This upgraded system also comes standard with Apple Carplay and Android Auto and optional built-in navigation. All trims come with a single USB port with optional or standard additional charge ports, a wireless device charger, and a 100-volt outlet depending on the trim.

This Year’s New Features

The base XL trim up to the Platinum trim now have an optional bed step upgrade. The XL trim’s Dually models now also come with the option of manually adjustable towing mirrors. There are also several new exterior paint color choices available.
