Schicker Ford of St. Louis

Aug 18, 2021

Here in St. Louis, MO, the early bird always gets the worm. Check out five of our favorite breakfast places in and around town to start your day on the right note.

1. Rooster

Located within walking distance of the Mississippi River, Rooster’s fantastic location is paired with delectable breakfast fare, featuring many locals’ go-to pancakes, crepes, sandwiches, and more. If you don’t find yourself in the downtown area, Rooster also has a second location within walking distance of Tower Grove Park, which is a great alternative if you often spend your Saturday mornings at their farmers’ market.

Rooster opens as early as 8 a.m. every day of the week.

2. The Mud House

Take a ten-minute drive south along the Mississippi River to The Mud House, a quaint cafe located within walking distance of the Marine Villa. Though its food deserves praise in and of itself (with plenty of alternatives for vegetarians and vegans, we’ll add), its drinks are where it really sets itself apart from the pack. Warm-up in the mornings with coffee with a hearty shot of a house syrup, or cool down later in the afternoon with a generous glass of lavender lemonade.

The Mud House opens as early as 7 a.m. every day of the week.

3. Kingside Diner

Head inland to Kingside Diner, which serves upscale versions of your favorite comfort foods at traditional diner prices. With its main establishment located in the Central West End area, it’s a great choice for families looking to bulk up before spending a long day at the zoo.

As an added bonus, the Kingside Diner Central West End location also has an event Wednesday through Saturday called Kingside After Dark. Here, they stay open until ten p.m., serving not only your favorite bar snacks and drinks but breakfast-for-dinner, if you so desire it. Please just make sure to drink responsibly and with moderation. Kingside Diner’s Central West End location opens as early as 6 a.m. every day of the week.

4. Egg Restaurant

It’s hard not to trust a restaurant that is literally called “Egg.” Here, find upscale twists on your favorite Tex-Mex dishes (pork-belly eggs benedict, anyone?) and an inventive drinks menu. (Surely you’ve had a mimosa before, but what about a “beermosa?”) Please just make sure to drink responsibly and with moderation.

Egg Restaurant opens as early as 9 a.m. on the weekend and 7 a.m. Tuesday through Friday. Please note that the establishment is closed on Monday.

5. Hartford Coffee Company

With plenty of brunch-appropriate burritos, bowls, bagels, and salads, the Hartford Coffee Company is a great choice for people looking to kick-start their day with a lighter, healthier alternative. Like with Rooster’s second location, it is also located in the South Grand Area, making it a great choice for families looking to grab a bite before heading to the Tower Grove Saturday farmers’ market or the Missouri Botanical Garden.

Hartford Coffee Company opens as early as 7 a.m. every day of the week.
